Gili Trawangan
Gili Trawangan in North Lombok
Gili Trawangan is located in Gili Indah Village, Selamat District, North Lombok Regency (KLU) West Nusa Tenggara[1]. Trawangan is one of the provincial strategic areas (KSP), along with Gili Meno and Gili Air, or what is also called Pesona Gili Tramena (Trawangan, Meno and Air)[2]. Gili Trawangan is the largest of the three small islands or Gilis located to the northwest of Lombok. Trawangan is also the only dyke whose height above sea level is quite significant. With a length of 3 km and a width of 2 km, Gili Trawangan has a population of around 2,089 people with a male to female ratio of 1.08[3]. Among the three dykes, Trawangan has the most diverse facilities for tourists; The "Tîr na Nôg" shop claims that Trawangan is the smallest island in the world with an Irish bar. The most densely populated part is the east of the island. In 2023 there will also be a famous beach club, Rabbit Jump.
Trawangan has a more "party" feel than Gili Meno and Gili Air, because of the many all-night parties whose events are rotated every night by several busy places. Popular activities for tourists in Trawangan are scuba diving (with PADI certification), snorkeling (on the northeastern coast), kayaking and surfing. There are also several places for tourists to learn to ride around the island.
On Gili Trawangan (as well as on the other two Gilis), there are no motorized vehicles, because they are not permitted by local regulations. Common means of transportation are bicycles (rented by local people to tourists) and cidomo, simple horse-drawn carriages common in Lombok. To travel to and from the three Gilis, residents usually use motorized boats and speedboats.
The advantage of Gili Trawangan compared to other beaches is that we can enjoy the sunset and sunrise at the same time on this beach. This happens because Gili Trawangan has beaches that face east and face west, and the distance is not too far. So we can enjoy both sunrise and sunset on this beach.
On Gili Trawangan we can also see traditional martial arts called presean or stick fighting which is usually performed around the Gili Trawangan art market. The most favorite activities of tourists on Gili are scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking and surfing.
